Somalia, 30 June 2026 – China is implementing a zero-tariff policy for Somalia to support exports of Somali products to the Chinese market, Chinese Ambassador to Somalia Wang Yu said.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Somali Diaspora Center in Mogadishu on Monday, Wang said the policy was part of wider efforts to deepen economic cooperation between China and Somalia.
“To boost economic cooperation, China is implementing a unilateral zero-tariff policy for Somalia, accelerating the export of high-quality Somali products into the Chinese domestic market,” Wang said.
He said a protocol between the two countries would be signed soon, but did not provide details on the products expected to benefit from the policy or the timetable for implementation.
Wang said the zero-tariff policy was among several initiatives reflecting what he described as deepening political trust and expanding practical cooperation between the two countries.
