July 01, 2026 - Isiolo County Government and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening climate resilience, food security and sustainable livelihoods following a two-day review of the Building Back Better and Greener Programme.
The dissemination workshop, which brought together county officials, development partners and community representatives, assessed the programme's achievements and explored strategies for scaling up climate-smart interventions across the county.
Deputy County Secretary Mohamed Boru, who officially opened the forum, said the programme has made significant strides in improving livelihoods, enhancing food and nutrition security, strengthening social protection and building resilience against the impacts of climate change.
Participants reviewed findings from the programme's 2024 independent impact evaluation, shared experiences from beneficiaries and discussed practical measures to enhance sustainability and expand the reach of successful interventions.
Speaking during the meeting, county officials and FAO representatives underscored the importance of stronger collaboration between government, development partners and local communities in delivering long-term solutions for vulnerable households.
Chief Officer for Civic Education and Public Participation Judy Karendi said informed decision-making, community participation and effective partnerships remain critical to improving resilience and expanding opportunities for residents.
