Mogadishu (Dawan) – Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Monday inaugurated the headquarters of the Interior Ministry in Boondheere district, reopened after 34 years.
The reconstruction of the facility was supported by the governments of Norway and Switzerland.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior federal government officials, members of parliament, international partners and civil society representatives.
The facility, long affected by the 1991 state collapse and later occupied by civilians, has now returned to the Interior Ministry. It has been prepared as a modern headquarters to manage key functions related to federalism, reconciliation, stabilization and other public services.
Interior Minister of Interior, Ali Yusuf Ali ‘Hosh’ described the reopening as a major achievement for the government, saying the ministry had finally returned to its original headquarters after 34 years.
